Welcome!
Firstly, a big thumbs-up from me - Thank you for visiting!
During the last two years I made the decision to undertake 18 months of post-graduate study on an innovative, challenging and enjoyable MA programme. It has not been easy though. During my first MA unit, I moved from Dubai to Moscow , got married and learned how to navigate and work between two schools in the Russian capital while carefully drawing upon my teaching, classroom projects and case studies as evidence for my masters study. My reason for undertaking the MA was a result of self-actualisation: to 'become everything that one is capable of becoming' (Maslow 1970: 46). Clearly Maslow recognises that this is not achievable, but I believe we should always seek personal growth and work toward that end.
The candid photo at the top of this page beautifully captures the spirit and focus of this exhibition: creativity and collaboration. As you can see the photo depicts students helping to set-up the sports gymnasium at The British International School 3 of Moscow for a two-night performance of Alice's Adventures In Wonderland in June 2011. I directed the show which was part of a large scale arts-based initiative that involved students and staff across the organisation in schools 2, 3, 4 and 7 (HD recordings of the production can be viewed by clicking on the 'Alice Project' tab at the top of this page).
This exhibition focuses on creativity and collaboration through the use of an arts-based initiative. By clicking on the 'Alice Project' tab at the top of the page you will see links to information on the value of arts-based initiatives and how one was successfully implemented in The British International School of Moscow. Creativity is a word brandied around quite often these days, particularly by teachers. But, take a moment to reflect on what the word 'creativity' actually means and suddenly a debate begins! By clicking on the 'Creativity' tab at the top of this page you will be introduced to some current issues on creativity. You will also meet some key thinkers on creativity who I have found to be quite inspirational.
My aim with this exhibition was to make it interesting - I want you, the visitor, to be engaged on all levels: visually, stylistically and intellectually. There are a number of videos and supporting documents that I hope you will have the opportunity to look at. I also designed this website to be easy to navigate around. A double-click on any one of the tabs at the top of the page will reveal a list of options.
Finally, think of this website as a 'living exhibition'. Feel free to dip in and out of it, and come and go as you please. How long you stay is up to you. But I would be extremely grateful if you could give me some feedback (see the 'Leave Feedback' tab above) on what you have seen. This will help me to evaluate for merit and improve the quality of provision.
Thanks again and enjoy!
